Places to Drink Tea in Los Angeles: {Alfred Tea Room}

May 17, 2016 – West Hollywood, CA – All my tea-loving friends, it’s the moment you’ve been waiting for! Alfred Tea Room is open! Just across the street from the original Alfred Coffee & Kitchen on the super-swank Melrose Place, Alfred has a new (almost) tea-only shop.

It is pink. It is gorgeous. It has Nitro Chai on tap.

It also has iced Matcha with almond milk (pictured above). Both are delicious, just like you would expect for $5-7 per drink. I went for the Nitro Chai because it just sounds really badass. It was delicious…

Places to Drink Coffee in L.A.: Woodcat Coffee Bar

From my Places to Drink Coffee in Los Angeles series (a real thing I just made up), today I am giving you a rundown on Woodcat Coffee Bar in Echo Park. First a quick poll: Am I the only one who, upon reading the name “Woodcat,” mentally chants “How much wood could a woodcat chuck if a woodcat could chuck wood?”?  Anyone? Comment below. By the way, woodcat is an old Scottish nickname for a hare, proving once again that Scottish people are awesome. I am part Scottish. Anyway, as I was saying, Woodcat Coffee Bar…

Places to Drink Coffee in L.A.: G&B Coffee

  Today, ladies and gentlemen, I am reviewing the wonderful, the beautiful, the awesome G&B Coffee in Downtown Los Angeles (from here on out #dtla; hashtag: because I can.) Founded by Kyle Glanville (G) and Charles Babinski (B), G&B’s mission is to introduce people to the great coffees of the World. I have been to this coffee shop now many times and every time I have loved it. And here, my furry friends, are the reasons G&B is possibly my favorite of the many awesome coffee shops in Los Angeles: 1. Amazing coffee…

Places to Drink Coffee in L.A.: Paramount Coffee Project (a.k.a. PCPLA)

Today I am reviewing the Australia-inspired coffee shop Paramount Coffee Project Los Angeles, which is PCPLA for short. It took me approximately 5 weeks to learn the correct order of that acronym, but I love Australians so I forgive them for making me think I am stupid, temporarily (for 5 weeks). Paramount Coffee Project started in Sydney as a collaboration between Jin Ng of Paramount House, Mark Dundon of Seven Seeds and Russell Beard of Reuben Hills. After success in Sydney, PCP decided to open Los Angeles, and in keeping with the specialty coffee and food format of a…

The Dumpster

  Best Alley Pizza in L.A. I live in L.A. and I like to have fun!  This is my latest personal project.  The dogged phoning of Athens Waste Removal Services to have this abandoned dumpster picked up and taken away (forever). I know.  I have no kids… I’ve got time on my hands. The backstory: I have been driving by this full abandoned dumpster for at least 3 months…  For a while, there were also boxes of old books surrounding it, but at some point in the last month, those disappeared (one man&#8217…

This is anne loves coffee more

My first post here.  My name is Anne.  I love coffee.  How much?  I love it more than wine, more than chocolate, more than caramel, more than pie – and I really love pie (yeah, yeah, I really love wine and caramel, too) – more than Paris, and sleep, and movies.  You get the idea.  Let’s just leave it at I love coffee more.   My plan is that this will be a place where I share things and places I like, what’s working for me, what isn’t, some info about how I fix what isn’t working, and a…
