Shortly after I started annelovescoffeemore about a year ago, I wrote a post about the break-and-bake ginger cookie dough that Trader Joe’s sells in November and December. I love those cookies (“Yes, every night.”) They are so easy, and they taste great. But, most importantly, they are ready to be baked whenever you need or want. The problem is, then, that these cookies are a seasonal item. TJ’s only carries them for two months of the year, so what are we supposed to do the other 10 months? Hmmmm?

Make This Now! Orange-Scented Seeded Challah

When I was little, one of the breads my mom taught me to make was challah. For those of you who don’t know, challah is a kind of braided egg bread that is traditionally served by Jews on Shabbat. During Rosh Hashana, however, the loaves are shaped into spirals or rounds symbolizing the continuity of creation. Sometimes raisins or honey are added to the recipe in order to make the resulting loaves extra sweet.
